A law firm is seeking a Litigation Legal Practice Assistant for its New York office, on a hybrid schedule requiring three days on-site. This role provides secretarial and administrative support to assigned litigation attorneys and paralegals, reporting to the Senior Manager of Legal Administrative Services.
Core responsibilities include case document setup (summons, complaints, disclosure statements), e-filing across state, federal, and appellate courts via ECF and Pacer, trial preparation support, and legal research using resources like Westlaw and Lexis-Nexis. The role also covers generating Tables of Contents and Authorities using Best Authority, maintaining client files in iManage/Propel, document conversion and redaction, calendar management, vendor scheduling, and timekeeping support. Additional responsibilities may include billing review, client estimate requests, and A/R and collections follow-up.
Candidates should have 4+ years of experience supporting litigation attorneys or paralegals, with litigation experience required, along with independent e-filing experience and proficiency across a range of litigation software tools (Best Authority, PacerPro, CompuLaw, LegalMation, iManage, Aderant, among others). A bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent experience/certifications. Strong attention to detail, multitasking ability, and sound independent judgment are essential.
